Slope Angle Wizard

The Slope Angle Wizard option works in conjunction with the Multi Scenario Modelling option. Starting with an existing slope model, the Slope Angle Wizard allows you to generate a series of models with different overall slope angles.

  1. First, make sure that the Multi Scenario Modelling option is enabled in the Scenarios tab in Project Settings.
  2. In the Document Viewer pane, select the model (scenario) that you wish to use as the base file.
  3. Select Slope Angle Wizard (Groups)... from the Boundaries menu.
  4. You will be prompted to pick a starting vertex at the toe of the slope. Use the mouse to select the vertex at the toe of the slope on the external boundary. This vertex will be used as the center of rotation for changing the slope angle.
  5. You will be prompted to pick a vertex at the crest of the slope. Use the mouse to select the vertex at the crest of the slope on the external boundary.
  6. You will see the Slope Angle Wizard dialog which allows you to define vertex rotation type, the number of scenarios to generate and the increment of rotation.
  7. See the Change Slope Angle topic for more information as the procedure is very similar.
  8. Select OK and the new scenarios will be generated as described below.

Generate Scenarios

When you select OK in the Slope Angle Wizard dialog, new scenarios will be generated according to the values you have entered. For example, if you entered:

  • Generate 5 scenarios in increments of 2 degrees

Five new groups (master scenarios) would be generated, with the overall slope angle increasing (or decreasing) in 2-degree increments between each scenario. For example, if the slope angle of the initial base model was 30 degrees, then the new scenario models would have overall slope angles of 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40 degrees.

Since changing the slope angle changes the model geometry and boundaries, the new model scenarios are created as new groups (master scenarios), rather than new scenarios within the original group. See the Groups and Scenarios topic for more information.
