Importing SLOPE/W Files

SLOPE/W is the slope stability program produced by Geo-Slope Inc.

• SLOPE/W input data files have a *.slp filename extension.

To import a SLOPE/W file into Slide2 (v5.0 or later versions):

1. Select Open from the File menu or the toolbar.
2. In the Open File dialog, click on the Files of Type drop-down list, and select "Slope/W Files (*.slp)"
3. The Open File dialog will now only list files with a *.slp filename extension. If the current directory does not contain any SLOPE/W files, then switch to the desired directory.
4. Select the SLOPE/W file that you want to open, and it will be opened in the Slide2 modeller.

SLOPE/W Features Imported Into Slide2

Import of SLOPE/W files into Slide2 is primarily intended to import the boundary geometry and material properties.

Due to the different approaches used for some modelling and analysis features (for example, slip surface generation), not all features of SLOPE/W models can be imported directly into Slide2.

ONLY THE FOLLOWING features of SLOPE/W models can be imported into Slide2:

• Boundary Geometry
• Material Properties (NOTE: NOT ALL STRENGTH MODELS SUPPORTED)
• Line Loads

Any modelling features not mentioned in the list above will have to be re-created in Slide2 using the modelling techniques provided in Slide2.
