Edit Surfaces

When the Surface Type = Circular in the Surface Options dialog, the Edit sub-menu in the Surfaces menu allows the following editing options.

Delete

Use the Delete option to delete:

To use Delete:

  1. Select the Delete Surfaces Delete Surface Icon option from the toolbar, or from the Edit sub-menu of the Surfaces menu.
  2. Click on grid, single circle or focus objects with the mouse.
  3. You can select multiple entities at once with a selection window.
  4. When you are finished selecting, right-click the mouse and select Done Selection, or press the Enter key, and the selected objects will be deleted.

Move

Use the Move option to move:

To use Move:

  1. Select the Move option from the Edit sub-menu of the Surfaces menu.
  2. Click on the grid or focus object that you wish to move.
  3. Right-click the mouse and select Done Selection, or press Enter.
  4. You will then be prompted to enter two points defining the move. Enter a base point and a second point, graphically with the mouse or by entering x,y coordinates in the prompt line, and the selected object will be moved according to the translation vector defined by the two points.

Stretch

Use the Stretch option to move vertices of (i.e. re-size):

To use Stretch:

  1. Select the Stretch option from the Edit sub-menu of the Surfaces menu.
  2. Select a corner of a slip center grid, or one or more vertices of a focus object.
  3. Right-click the mouse and select Done Selection, or press Enter.
  4. You will then be prompted to enter two points defining the stretch. Enter a base point and a second point, graphically with the mouse or by entering x,y coordinates in the prompt line, and the selected vertex (or vertices) will be moved according to the translation vector defined by the two points.

Modify Grid Spacing

Use the Modify Grid Spacing option to modify the slip center grid density of an existing slip center grid.

  1. Select the Modify Grid Spacing option from the Edit sub-menu of the Surfaces menu, or you may simply right-click on a grid, and select Modify Grid Spacing from the pop-up menu.
  2. Click on the grid that you wish to modify.
  3. Right-click the mouse and select Done Selection, or press Enter.
  4. The Grid Spacing dialog will appear, with the current X and Y spacing for the selected grid. Enter the desired X and Y grid spacing, and select OK. The grid spacing for the selected grid will be updated with the new values.

The display of slip center locations within a grid can be turned on or off in the Display Options dialog.

Right-Click Shortcut

The surface editing options are also available as convenient right-click shortcuts for individual entities. For example, if you click the right mouse button ON a slip surface or search object, you will see a popup menu with appropriate editing options available.
